John Choi, CPA, JD

John is a principal with PSG Certified Public Accountants and has been in private practice since 2003. During that time, John has provided his clients with excellent business advisory and consulting services with a focus on helping business owners with flow-through entities such as S Corporations, Partnerships, LLCs and LLPs. John has a unique ability to understand his clients' businesses as well as the ever-changing tax landscape. He uses this knowledge to improve his clients' overall tax situation.

Prior to engaging in private practice, John served eight years with the Franchise Tax Board (FTB) in both the Audit and Legal Departments as a technical matter specialist. While working for FTB's legal branch, John's responsibilities included setting global tax policies for auditors engaging in complex tax matters such as pass-through entities, tax shelters, corporate liquidations, and state tax credits such as Research and Development, Manufacturer's Investment Credit, and Enterprise Zones. Demonstrating exceptional competence in tax issues, John has testified before the Superior Court of California as an expert witness. John has taught numerous technical tax issues to both auditors at FTB and CPAs throughout California.

John was raised locally in Roseville and currently resides in Folsom. He is married to a loving wife, Connie, and has adorable young boys, JT, Justin, and Jacob. John enjoys spending time with his family on his days off and once in a great while gets in a round of golf.

John has a B.S. in Accountancy from University of the Pacific, Stockton and a Juris Doctorate degree in Tax from McGeorge School of Law. John is an active member of the California Society of CPAs.
